Read Story: Why Betel Leaves?

According to Ramayana, when Lord Hanuman reached Lanka to convey the message of Lord Ram to Mata Sita, she gave him a garland made with betel leaves as she couldn't find anything else to offer him as a token of delight and appreciation. This is why people offer betel leaves while worshiping Lord Hanuman.

Offering betel leaves or betel leaves garland to Lord Hanuman pleases him as it reminds him of Mata Sita. Lord Hanuman is not only the devotee of Lord Ram but also of Mata Sita.

Count: 11, 21, 27, 54, or 108 leaves (as per your prayers).
Requirements: Devotees must bring betel leaves either tied as a garland or as loose leaves (without lime).
Preferred Time: Along with Morning Abhishekam or Evening 7:00 PM Nithya Pooja.
(If that time is not possible, we can do it along with Ashtothara Archana).

Vadamala Seva
Read Story: Why Vadamala?

When Hanuman was a child, he was captivated by the radiant Sun shining in the sky and leapt forward to seize it. At the same time, Rahu Devata was racing toward the Sun to eclipse it. In this race, Hanuman—blessed as the son of Vayu, the Wind God—surpassed Rahu with effortless speed and strength.

Impressed by Hanuman’s extraordinary valor, Rahu Devata granted a boon: anyone who worships Lord Hanuman with offerings made from urad dal will be freed from the effects of Rahu Dosha and protected from Rahu’s negative influence.

It was further ordained that the offering be made in the form of a garland or shaped like a serpent, symbolizing Rahu himself, who was especially pleased by preparations made from urad dal.

Butter Alankaram
Read Story: Why Butter Alankaram seva?

During the great war of Ramayana, Hanuman played a crucial role not only as a warrior but also as Lord Rama’s loyal companion and even his living chariot. When Ravana unfairly targeted Hanuman with his arrows, Hanuman suffered grievous wounds while carrying Rama into battle.

Seeing his dearest devotee in pain, Lord Rama personally treated Hanuman’s injuries with butter, applying it with loving care. This healing act symbolized the pure bond of love and devotion between the Lord and his most faithful servant.

From that day on, applying butter became a divine gesture — not just to soothe physical wounds, but to express gratitude, love, and devotion.

Tulabhara Seva

Tulabhara (also known as Tula-purusha or Tula-dana) is an ancient Hindu practice where a devotee is weighed against a specific commodity, like gold, grain, fruits, or other items, and an equivalent weight of that commodity is offered as a donation to the Temple.

Significance & Tradition

Devotees often turn to the Divine in times of personal challenges, such as health, job, or prosperity issues, as a last resort or hope. When their prayers are answered and wishes fulfilled over time, they choose to perform this seva as a thanksgiving offering to the revered Deity.

Listed among the sixteen great gifts in ancient texts, this ritual has deep historical roots. In earlier times, the donor followed specific customs, such as wearing garlands of white flowers and circling the weighing scale with folded hands. The donor would step into one pan of the scale, while priests placed commodities of equal weight in the other.

📅 Important Details
  • Commodities: The Donor must bring the items to be weighed against (e.g., Rice, Urad Dal, Toor Dal, Jaggery, Gold, Silver, Coins, Sugar, etc).
  • Donation to Temple: $301
